Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Promotes Galan Riley to Senior Vice President of Casualty in Canada

Galan Riley has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Casualty in Canada by Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI). Known for providing general liability, lead umbrella, and excess liability insurance across various industries, Galan takes over this role from Darryl DeSouza, who recently retired after almost a decade with the company.

In his new position, Galan will be responsible for overseeing all BHSI casualty lines in Canada, including energy, products, general casualty, commercial auto, construction, contractors professional, and pollution liability. With more than twenty years of experience in underwriting casualty risks in the Canadian market, Galan joined BHSI in 2014 as Assistant Vice President, Energy Casualty and was promoted to Vice President in 2019.

Kathy Reid, Head of Casualty North America at BHSI praised the work of both Galan and Darryl in developing and executing the company’s strategy for expanding their casualty business over the past decade. She expressed her excitement to work closely with Galan in leading the business into the future and wished Darryl well on his retirement.
