This offseason, the Bengals have taken a different approach to their roster by using the franchise tag on wide receiver Tee Higgins. However, it appears that another player on the team is also seeking a change of scenery. According to reports, edge rusher Trey Hendrickson has asked to be traded to another club.
Hendrickson, who has non-guaranteed base salaries of $14.8 million and $15.8 million for the next two seasons, is looking for more long-term security which the Bengals have not been willing to provide him. Despite his productive three-year tenure with the team, recording 39.5 sacks in 48 regular season games and 3.5 sacks in Super Bowl LVI’s lead-up, it seems that his future sacks may come in a different uniform if the Bengals decide to grant his trade request and part ways with him now.
