Belgian Retail Giant Bristol Launches Clearance Sale Amid Financial Struggles and Search for Buyer

The Belgian shoe and clothing chain Bristol has started a clearance sale in its store on Keesinglaan in Deurne, with items available for 1, 3, or 5 euros. The company, which has 117 stores across the country, is currently facing financial difficulties and is looking for a buyer. In the meantime, the clearance sale has begun in the stores.

The marketing director of Bristol, Lore Vanaudenhouve, announced that the Deurne store is the first to launch the clearance sale, featuring a wide selection of clothing at discounted prices. Once everything is sold, the store will be closed. Negotiations with potential buyers for the Bristol stores are ongoing, with more information expected to be announced by August.

While the sale is ongoing in Deurne, other Bristol stores in Flanders are still being supplied from the distribution center in Beringen. Customers can enjoy discounts of up to seventy percent at these stores as well. Despite facing challenges such as the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, rising rent and energy costs, economic downturn and unfavorable weather conditions affecting sales and lack of scale compared to larger competitors which allows for better discounts from suppliers , Bristol remains committed to finding a solution for its financial troubles.
