1 min read

Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera expressed his excitement for the premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The film, a sequel to Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 comedy-horror hit, will make its world debut in Venice on August 28 and be screened out of competition.

Beetlejuice alums Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara will reunite for the sequel, along with new cast members Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe. The Warner Bros. release will hit North America on September 6 and internationally on September 4.

Tim Burton himself shared his excitement about the premiere, stating that it means a lot to him to have Beetlejuice Beetlejuice debut at the Venice Film Festival. Warner Bros. has a history of success at the festival, as seen with past premieres like Joker in 2019 and Dune in 2021.

The diversity of talent and films showcased at the festival reflects its commitment to promoting creativity and innovation in filmmaking. From August 28 to September 7, the 81st Venice Film Festival will continue to be a hub for global cinema enthusiasts.
