Batten College of Engineering and Technology Recognized for Diversity Initiatives with Bronze-Level Award from ASEE

The Batten College of Engineering and Technology has recently received Bronze-level recognition from the American Society for Engineering Education’s (ASEE) Diversity Recognition Program. This program acknowledges colleges that have made significant strides in promoting diversity, inclusion, and degree attainment within their programs.

To be eligible for this program, colleges must develop a comprehensive diversity plan that outlines their goals for diversity and inclusiveness, assesses their needs, establishes priorities, mandates equity training, implicit bias training, and inclusion training, holds themselves accountable, and utilizes surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of their efforts.

Stacie Ringleb, the associate dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access at the College, expressed pride in the alignment of the Batten College’s efforts with the College’s Strategic Plan and Old Dominion University’s Monarch Plan for Inclusive Excellence. She emphasized that the College is honored to be recognized by the ASEE for their dedication to diversity initiatives.

As part of their recognition, the Batten College will receive a special badge to display on their marketing materials and website for a three-year term. The awardees will also be recognized at the 2024 conference in Portland, Oregon in June. To learn more about the Batten College’s diversity initiatives
