On Monday morning, Baptist Health opened a new emergency center for adults and children in St. Augustine. The facility, called the Baptist/Wolfson Children’s ER and Imaging Center, was built to meet the growing demand for emergency care in St. Johns and Flagler counties, which are rapidly expanding.
Michael A. Mayo, DHA, FACHE, president and CEO of Baptist Health, stated that it is critical for the healthcare provider to meet the rising demand for convenient access to the right care in the right setting with the rapid growth in their region. The facility includes two emergency centers: a Baptist Emergency Center for adults and a Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center for kids ages 0 to 17.
Allegra C. Jaros, MBA, president of Wolfson Children’s Hospital emphasized that children and adolescents have their own unique health needs and that the children’s emergency centers are designed with that in mind. The pediatric emergency teams are prepared to provide specialized lifesaving care when needed.
In addition to the emergency centers, the facility also houses an imaging center offering X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, mammography, and bone density screenings. The new emergency care facility is conveniently located at the junction of Interstate 95 and State Road 16 at 461 Outlet Mall Boulevard. This initiative is part of Baptist Health’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the community
