Ballard Junior Cooper Risinger Leads the Way as Courier Journal Boys Athlete of the Week Nominees Shine on Baseball and Lacrosse Fields

Voting is currently open for The Courier Journal’s boys athlete of the week, with the poll closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday. This week’s nominees for Courier Journal boys athlete of the week have demonstrated consistency on the baseball diamonds or lacrosse fields.

Kyle Campbell from Trinity High School had an impressive performance, with five hits, one RBI, three stolen bases, and two walks in wins against Highlands Latin, St. Xavier, and Southern. Sekayi Charasika, a senior from Kentucky Country Day, contributed five goals and two assists to lead the Bearcats to a 19-17 victory over Eastern.

Ryan Eubanks, a senior from Eastern High School, also had a standout week with five hits, five RBIs, and two walks in games against Southern, Christian Academy, and Bullitt Central. DeSales junior Cole Thompson pitched an impressive game with 13 strikeouts to lead the Colts to a 10-0 win over Christian Educational Consortium. Thompson also had three hits, one RBI, a stolen base, and a walk against Christian Educational Consortium and Male.

Ballard junior Cooper Risinger showcased his skills on the lacrosse field, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in matches against Frederick Douglass and Atherton. For more high school sports coverage
