In an effort to combat the spread of bacteria resistant to most antibiotics, which were discovered in three hospital departments at Rambam Medical Center, urgent measures have been ordered by management. These bacteria include Acinetobacter and Klebsiella types, as well as the fungal infection Candida auris. While these infections are not dangerous for healthy individuals, they can cause serious complications for patients with weakened immune systems, potentially leading to death.
With the emergency departments and internal hospital departments experiencing constant overload, combatting these hospital-acquired infections poses a significant challenge. In response, Professor Mickey Helberthal, the Director of Rambam Hospital, has recommended that medical personnel in the affected departments work with full protection measures in place. Additionally, these departments will not be accepting new patients until the outbreak is contained.
Furthermore, families of patients who have visited the contaminated wards will be notified of the incident and provided with instructions on proper hygiene practices. By implementing these measures, the Rambam Medical Center aims to control the spread of these resistant bacteria and protect the health of their patients.
