Arsenal is closely monitoring the situation of Riccardo Calafiori, a 22-year-old Italian defender who had a standout performance at the European Championship with Italy. The recruitment team at Arsenal has been impressed by Calafiori and is considering joining the race for his signature.
Despite strong links with Juventus, Arsenal is not the only team interested in signing Calafiori. Bologna, where he made 33 appearances last season and earned his first call-up to the Italian national team, also wants to keep him. Bologna finished fifth in Serie A, and Calafiori played in all three of Italy’s group stage games at Euro 2024.
However, he was suspended for the round of 16 knockout tie against Switzerland, where Italy lost 2-0 without him. Giovanni Sartori, the technical director of Bologna, stated that there is a desire to keep Calafiori at the club but will consider serious offers that come their way. If Arsenal decides to pursue Calafiori, it could impact Poland centre-back Jakub Kiwior’s future at the club. Kiwior has been linked with a move back to Italy in recent months.
Arsenal fans will be eager to see how this situation unfolds and whether they will be successful in securing Calafiori’s services.
