Argentine High School IT Team Secures Olympic Spot but Faces Funding Challenges.

2 min read

The Argentine IT team, made up of four high school students, has earned the opportunity to participate in the International Olympics taking place in Alexandria, Egypt in 2024. However, they are facing difficulties in securing financing for their travel expenses due to a lack of support from the national State. Despite this challenge, the team is actively seeking sponsors to help cover the cost of air tickets for the participants as accommodation and stay expenses are already covered by the Egyptian Ministry of Technology.

The National Olympics Program has seen a reduction in support this year as the Ministry of Human Capital has changed its level of support previously provided. The International Computer Olympiad (IOI) is a prestigious event for secondary school students and Argentina has been participating for 32 years through the Argentine Computer Olympiad program based at the National University of San Martín (UNSAM).

The current members of the Argentine Olympic Computer Science Team come from different high schools across Argentina. The team is determined to find sponsorship to ensure their participation in the upcoming event. Despite facing challenges, they remain committed to representing Argentina on an international stage.

If you are interested in sponsoring the team or providing assistance, you can contact them through the UNSAM website. Your support will help these dedicated students fulfill their dream of competing in Egypt and showcasing their skills on a global platform.
