Alaska Airlines Adds Hot Food Options to Economy Class: A Taste of World-Class Cuisine in the Sky

Alaska Airlines recently announced the return of hot food options for their economy class passengers. This is great news for travelers who have been missing out on delicious meals during their flights. Passengers on flights over 1,100 miles can now purchase hot meals through the carrier’s pre-order meal program.

The airline’s team has been working hard for over a year to create a new menu that is sure to tantalize your taste buds. The menu has been carefully curated by taste testing various options with a culinary chef. According to Todd Traynor-Corey, the managing director of guest products at Alaska Airlines, guests will now get to experience the airline’s world-class food and beverages regardless of their seating arrangement.

The new menu offers four options, depending on the time of day and direction of travel. Flights departing from the west coast hubs during breakfast time will feature a Carnitas Breakfast Bowl, while flights heading to those hubs will serve a Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich. For lunch and dinner, passengers can choose between a Panang Chicken Curry or Pretzel Roll Sliders served on King’s Hawaiian buns. The hot meals are priced between $8 and $11.50.

Passengers must pre-order the hot meals between two weeks and 20 hours before their flight. This pre-order system helps the carrier accurately predict demand and reduce waste. However, it may be inconvenient for last-minute travelers. Additionally, some longer flights, redeye departures, and markets without catering facilities at the departure airport will not offer the hot meal service.
