The Binghamton Senators and Belleville Devils battled it out during the third period of Saturday’s game at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena, with Binghamton ultimately emerging victorious with a 3-1 win. This exciting action was witnessed by fans who were in awe of the incredible performance put on by both teams.
In another memorable moment in the AHL, the Binghamton Senators defeated Bridgeport in the Eastern Conference semifinals at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The sold-out arena saw the Senators take a 3-2 lead after a 3-0 win, thanks to goals from Josh Langfeld, Chris Bala, and Chris Kelly. Goalie Ray Emery made 26 saves, including a crucial stoppage of a power-play drought that was instrumental in shutting down Bridgeport.
The B-Sens went on to eliminate Bridgeport in Game 6 with a thrilling 2-1 victory. Emery’s goaltending prowess was once again key in shutting down the opposition, stopping an impressive 60 of Bridgeport’s 61 shots over the last two games of the series. Coach John Paddock praised Emery as an exceptional young goalie and an essential difference-maker for his team.
In addition to this exciting moment in hockey, another notable event took place in Union-Endicott High School graduate and NFL defensive lineman Arthur Jones’ wrestling career when he won New York State’s Junior Wrestling Championships’ 275-pound title over Justin Tougas. Jones had pinned Tougas four times previously before winning his fifth pin against him in this championship bout. This victory added to Jones’ impressive athletic achievements, which include winning a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 and being part of an incredible athletic family that includes UFC star Jon Jones and NFL standout Chandler Jones as well as other talented siblings like his sister Kelsey Jones who is also an athlete and his brother Aaron Jones who plays football for Green Bay Packers
