A stunning photograph captured on Nov 28, 2023, in the Xi’an City Wall Scenic Area of Shaanxi province shows actresses dressed in Tang Dynasty military attire patrolling the ancient city wall. Dating back over 600 years to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), this iconic Chinese landmark has been meticulously preserved and enhanced with cutting-edge digital technologies to attract tourists from around the world. Advanced LoT sensing devices and non-destructive testing equipment have been utilized to thoroughly inspect the wall for potential hazards, creating an extensive database that allows for AI analysis across a wide range of scenarios, including cultural preservation, tourism, flood prevention, and emergency response.
In preparation for the WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum, a group of international influencers recently explored the wonders of Xi’an. Their itinerary included visits to both the Xi’an ancient city wall and the Xi’an Museum. The museum collaborated with Alibaba Yuanjing to incorporate metaverse technology into their cultural tourism experience. By combining real-time cloud rendering, interactive 3D content, and precious cultural relics, this immersive metaverse world allows visitors to fully engage with and interact with the rich history on display.
The visit by these influencers was part of a series of events leading up to the WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum hosted by the WIC and organized by Shaanxi Province’s People’s Government. Themed “Connectivity and Shared Prosperity,” this forum will bring together representatives from government agencies, private sector companies, academic experts to discuss topics such as digital infrastructure development, cross-border e-commerce cooperation, digital cultural exchanges, agricultural production utilizing digital technology and enhancing rural governance.
