Due to heavy rain and high winds, the postseason schedules for high school softball and golf contests in Mitchell have been altered. Many of the contests scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, have been rescheduled for Wednesday.
As of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, half of the 24 softball games scheduled to be played on Tuesday have been moved to Wednesday. The highly anticipated Class AA SoDak 16 showdown between Mitchell and O’Gorman has also been rescheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls instead of Sherman Park in Sioux Falls.
Several other area games that were originally scheduled for Tuesday have also been rescheduled due to the weather conditions. The Hanson at Florence/Henry at game will now take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in Florence, Elkton-Lake Benton at Bon Homme game will be held at 5 p.m., Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy vs Scotland/Menno game will be played at 5:30 p.m., McCook Central/Montrose vs Castlewood game will start at 5:30 p.m., and Parkston vs Madison game will begin at 6 p.m., all on Wednesday, May 21, at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls instead of their original locations in Mitchell or Tyndall or Scotland or Montrose or Castlewood or Mitchell respectively .
Two high school golf meets scheduled for Tuesday have also been altered by the weather conditions, with the Region 4B golf tournament initially scheduled to take place at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell being moved to a start time of 9 a.m., Thursday, May 22, and Eastern South Dakota Conference girls golf meet originally planned for Tuesday has been moved to a start time of 10 a.m., Thursday, May
