Aaron Gwin, a five-time UCI Downhill World Cup overall winner, is set to join the commentary line-up for the first four DHI rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series. The rounds will take place at Fort William in Scotland this weekend, Bielsko Biala, Poland on May 17-19, Leogang, Austria on June 7-9 and Val di Sol, Italy on June 14-16. In addition to his commentary duties, Gwin will also serve as an official Downhill Ambassador for the series.
Gwin had to take a break from his DH bike after sustaining an elbow injury at the Lenzerheida World Cup last June. However, he is now ready to make his comeback and has expressed excitement about joining Ric McLaughlin in the commentary box. Gwin aims to provide fans with greater insight into a rider’s thought process during each race and shed light on the experience of being on the competitive side of the tape.
After the Val di Sol round, Gwin plans to race with his new team, Gwin Racing. Although he still needs more time to strengthen his elbow for rougher trails, he sees his return to racing as a positive step. Gwin is looking forward to connecting with fans in this new role as a DHI Ambassador for the UCI Mountain Bike World Series and sharing his passion for downhill racing with others.
