In 2014, the government set out to build a new hospital in Beersheba as part of a plan to improve healthcare services in southern Israel. Despite changes in government over the years, this goal has now become a reality with the approval of the establishment of the hospital.
The new hospital will be jointly owned by Leumit and Meuhedet health insurance funds and Sheba Hospital, which will be responsible for its operation. The hospital is expected to open by 2028 and offer 600 beds along with a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services.
This decision marks a significant step towards improving healthcare services in southern Israel. The initiatives taken by the government to construct and finance the hospital have been carefully designed to address various healthcare needs in the region. With its anticipated opening, the new hospital is expected to provide advanced medical care, specialized services, and modern facilities that will benefit the community in and around Beersheba.
The construction of this new hospital is intended to bolster the medical service system in southern Israel, attract skilled specialists, enhance medical service quality and accessibility for the southern population, increase competition in the healthcare market, and decrease social disparities in healthcare access.
