The USC Trojans have a storied history of facing off against Big Ten opponents in college football. Dating back to 1925, when the Trojans beat the Iowa Hawkeyes with a score of 18-0, their rivalries with the Big Ten have been a tradition that has spanned nearly a century.
Throughout this time, USC has dominated the competition, boasting an impressive winning record of 75-30 (.714) against Big Ten teams. The Trojans have had great success in games against Michigan and Ohio State, with a 14-3 record since 1970. Prior to Clay Helton’s tenure, USC even had a seven-game win streak against Ohio State.
However, despite their long history of success against the Big Ten, there have been some struggles along the way. In the 1940s, USC went 2-5 against Big Ten teams, and there was a losing streak from 2016 to 2018 where they lost four straight games to Big Ten opponents. Despite these setbacks, USC has bounced back and continues to be a force to be reckoned with on the field.
As of now, USC is joining forces with UCLA, Washington, and Oregon as they officially become members of the Big Ten Conference in 2024. With this newfound affiliation comes new opportunities for matchups against top-tier teams from around the country. For more college football coverage and analysis
