The US has allocated over 100 billion VND to enhance fertilizer use efficiency, increase farmers’ income, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in rice farming. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in collaboration with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), launched a project on correct fertilizer use on April 9. With a budget of 4.4 million USD, the project will be implemented over four years and is sponsored by the Department of Foreign Agricultural Affairs under USDA. The focus will be on provinces in the Red River Delta and the Mekong Delta.
Through this project, farmers will be guided to use fertilizers effectively by following the 4 right principles (4Rs) of nutrition management. Experts from the US Department of Agriculture, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), and Vietnamese scientists will provide guidance to farmers on best practices. The project aims to improve fertilizer use efficiency, increase income, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in rice farming.
